I have ACDC and ROBO in my autoinvest 'portfolio', one up 7% other down 17%. Recently heard commentary on thematic ETFs being overly hyped on launch, then drop to a more reasonable value and from there taking investors who bought the hype to wait years to actually see any growth. The money was to be made early before the general public were aware, before that demand caused the creation of the ETFs to satisfy demand. Should I be allocating new money elsewhere and watching these until they seem to start rising again possibly in a few years?

Hi everyone, I have questions about dividends and share registries. It was my first time to buy some Australian stock a few months ago. What should I do if I have not received any letter from the mail. I have no idea about my SRN/HIN number. Can I still receive dividends in the future if I don't know my SRN/HIN number? If yes, would I receive my dividend through my bank account in Pearler?

I have done some basic research but I cannot seem to find a direct answer about whether my funds are insured or if there is some sort of guarantee for individuals investing through Pearler: I understand that "The Australian Government guarantees up to $250 000 per account holder per authorised deposit-taking institution (ADI)" but this does not apply to Pearler (or other stock investment accounts as I understand it), correct? I also get that Pearler is CHESS sponsored but this does not guarantee me ownership/access over my investment, say, if the company became insolvent? Any help appreciated, thank you in advance!

The question is regarding the W8-BEN tax form and a VDHG portfolio. Checking Computershare it doesn't look like I need to complete the form but I'd rather be safe than sorry and ask the pearler community if it's required. I believe that VDHG is domiciled in Australia so even though it has US companies in the ETF I don't need to submit one. is this correct?

Hi, I'm wondering when is the best time to do a portfolio rebalance? I have recently started investing on Pearler and I noticed all of my most recent investment went straight into A200 which currently takes up 35% of my allocation however I thought it would be evenly distributed or at least some would go into my VEU allocation as it makes up 25% and its currently cheaper than A200? Thanks!

I have VTS and VEU. These ETFs don't offer DRPs. If I choose the 'Automatically send dividends to auto-invest account' option, the dividends will be used to buy according to my AutoInvest set-up, right? But I'll have to deal with the tax in whichever financial year the dividend was paid? Unlike a DRP?

Hello! I am new to investing and was looking into buying a few different ETF's and was wondering what the general consensus is when choosing VESG or VGS. They both have the same management fee of 0.18% p.a but VGS is way more popular. I understand that because VESG does an ethical screening it is less diverse in that respect but unless I've misunderstood something in terms of the number of holdings it's 1636 vs 1465 so VESG has more companies and both have the same general investment strategy. I would also assume that because VESG does a screening against certain companies such as those related to fossil fuels or those directly or indirectly exposed to controversial conduct it would be more likely to do better over the next 10 years? Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

Hi pearlers, I started using pearler when my goal was for long term investing to create financial freedom when I retire. I was single at this point and had decided getting in the housing market was out of my reach. I am now in a serious relationship and my financial goal has changed to saving for a house deposit. My question is: Is investing in ETFs over 5 years worth it to build wealth for a deposit or am I better of using a term deposit? I’ve read that really you have to contribute for over 10 years to really start seeing your wealth grow. Please be kind! I am very new to this and was never taught financial literacy. Thanks xx

New investor here I put a chunk of my savings into VDHG as an easy one-off investment option that I can just put money into and let it grow. Question is, how does it compare to S&P 500 etfs ? Is there any advantage one has over the other ? If I invest into both VDHG & S&P 500 are there any over lap in stocks ? Is that a bad thing ? Cheers for the help

Hi i just turned 18 and want to start investing but not sure where to start. I have heard Pearler is a good site for Australian to invest but not really sure how to. Is there an amount i have to invest everyweek and if do what is the budget. right now i dont have a job but have allowance can i still invest? Will i have to include this in my tax return? So, I’m in the early phases of my investing journey, and trying to bring the better half along for the ride. Unfortunately she has an uncanny knack for asking difficult questions that seem to be hard to google! So the question is this: If a company in which an ETF invests goes belly-up, what happens to the ETF itself? Do you have less actual shares due to the fact that the shares you had in the underlying company no longer exist? Or does the ETF itself just lose the value that those shares represented, but you still have the same number of shares in that ETF? I.e say Company A is 10% of ETF A’s portfolio, and it goes under, do you have 10% less total shares, or the same number of shares but their value has taken a 10% hit? Sorry if it’s a dumb question! Hi everyone, I am wanting to start investing and am not quite sure where to start. I only have small amounts to invest at the moment/its what I am comfortable putting in given I am still learning ($20 a fortnight). How do I start though as when I click on an ETF it says the minimum buy is $500. Do I need $500 to just start investing? I would like to make sure it is diversified though. Any help for this newbie would be great! Thank you!
