Hi All, I have been investing for some years now and I will continue too invest. I have over $25,000 invested at the moment and I would like to know for tax purpose what type of accounts would be suitable . So that I don't get taxed at full threshold. Can you please give example of account setup knowing that I have saved a decent amount . I would to set my foundations right so that I get it right from the beginning. Thanks Julius

Asking here as I'm probably not the only one wondering (or am I?) but if I've borrowed money to invest in an ETF, and the interest is deductible, where do I put it when I fill out my tax return? Does it go in box 13Y as it relates to the ETF? Or is that box only for the fund to use if they have deductions claimable there? Do I use a different deductions box?

I've been wondering why people choose VDHG over IVV? I understand VDHG is more diversified but the MER (0.27%) is is so much higher than IVV (0.04%). Performance of IVV has been better then VDHG recently as well (but probably due to all the money printing going on).

I invest $250 a week into the S&P500. Im 46 and plan on investing for the next 15 years. Is this ok ? Or should I be investing in Australian shares ? Any ideas would be great. Thanks. It’s just for an extra boost for retirement.

Hey everyone For background, I used to be with Stockspot when I first got started in ETFs. I've recently moved out of Stockspot's platform and onto Pearler, and have shifted my asset allocation to better suit my risk profile. I was actually wondering about everyone's thoughts on Gold as a defensive asset, or one that is not correlated to shares? Stockspot has had quite a large allocation to GOLD (approx 15%). There seems to be quite a debate around GOLD as an asset class, and I was wondering what people's thoughts were? Having been invested in gold for a short time period (approx 7 years) - I definitely noticed that in a diversified portfolio it did help smooth out returns, and tends to be oppositely correlated to stocks. Chris Brycki from Stockspot seems to like gold (i.e. good diversifier, hedge, insurance policy) (https://blog.stockspot.com.au/buy-gold/), whereas Ben Felix from PWL capital has a lot less of a rosy outlook - https://www.pwlcapital.com/will-gold-save-the-day/, (I.e. not an income-producing asset, highly volatile etc.) I'm sitting on the fence, and not too sure if I want to keep a small allocation to gold in my portfolio (say 5-7%)?

On the recent webinar, Hayden answered a quersion of mine regarding manual autoinvest using direct deposit. He mentioned that there are some smart features where the deposit reference text is scanned by pearler and if it has some characteristics (ie, something like containing "Autoinvest", or the like) it will automatically divert it to my autoinvest account. I can't seem to find any reference to this feature or how to take advantage of it. Does anyone know anything about it or where to find how to use it?

Hello New here and just working everything out - very much a late starter. I'm a bit of an oldie (60) with some spare cash. I am thinking of buying an ETF in my name for each of my four grandchildren, which I will gift to them when they each reach 18 or when I die, whichever comes first. Can I do this? If so, how do I do this? Any recommendations for an ETF? Appreciate any feedback, thank you :-)

I am confused about whether I need to fill out the W8-BEN form for ETFs such as VTS (US domiciled), I also own VGS, NDQ, IOO. I thought that if I bought ETFs on ASX, even though they track US market, I don't need to. Computershare enquiry says yes I do, Commsec says no. I am using more than 1 broker, so do I need a form for each broker?

Hey pearlers, Another dumb question that you have heard a million times, I'm sure! but related to DRP, if in (settings > share settings and dividends > and flicked dividends payments enabled). Will this feature grab all dividends from my holdings and re-invest into my shares?? Sorry it sounds self-explanatory but just was curious on how this worked. Thankyou!

Hi all, Pretty new here. I thinknI just got my first ETF only cause I listened to a podcast and seemed logical. Now, i opened my pearler account with a Micro investment (diversify and chill) account, cause I loved the concept of not having to think about it. After that, I Transferred my vanguard VDHG account to Pearler. So have the 2 of them running at the same time. Sometimes investing money in one more than the other, Micro moving better than VDHG. Should I get rid of the VDHG at one point and put everything into MICRO account? Should I leave it the way it is? Are any or most of the ETF's on these accounts overlapping? Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks everyone

Hi, I'm wondering what are the advantages or disadvantages of investing every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks over the life of my investing time frame? I'm trying to come up with a strategy to limit brokerage fees as much as possible while also maximizing returns. For arguments sake, the amount will be $2,000 every 2 weeks and $6,000 every 6. Thanks!
