Our community invests for their children in a variety of ways. Although we're not able to give advice on what's right for your child specifically, we want to help educate, since we know getting started can often feel overwhelming.
📚What can I invest in on the Pearler platform?
Pearler’s minor accounts are set up with the adult as the primary account holder, holding investments in trust for the child. For single adult minor accounts, we offer both ASX and Micro investing.

📚Managed funds vs ETFs: what are the key differences?
Once a minor turns 18, we are able to process a transfer from a minor account into an individual account in their name. There is no requirement to transfer as timing would depend on when the adult feels ready. We do not charge fees for this type of transfer, although we would advise you to clarify any tax concerns with a professional, as CGT may still apply depending on your personal circumstances.
According to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), if a scenario matches the exact conditions outlined in the second example on this page (Example: dividends reinvested for child), the child remains the beneficial owner of the shares and there will be “no capital gain or loss” when a transfer takes place.

Additionally, our friends at Pivot Wealth wrote a blog that covers many of the big questions, so we’re sharing it here for educational purposes only. Just a reminder the blog is not intended to provide you with personal advice. The information we share is always general in nature and you should consult your own tax or financial advisers before taking any action. Also, we have no referral or sponsorship relationship with the blog author, if you seek further advice from them, we receive no kickbacks or perks. https://pivotwealth.com.au/blog/how-to-invest-for-your-children/

Remember that this is general in nature and doesn't constitute personal advice. Reach out to a financial professional when considering making financial decisions. As details may change, we recommend checking the information directly from the source, including the ATO website. All figures and data in this article were accurate at the time it was published. That said, financial markets, economic conditions and government policies can change quickly, so it's a good idea to double-check the latest info before making any decisions.
