I look for companies that are trading at attractive valuations and that have operational catalysts that would likely cause a re-rating in their earnings. Often this involves buying out-of-favour companies which could underperform for a considerable period until the market recognises the value. On an absolute basis, my goal is to grow the portfolio at an annualised rate of 20%. I believe that valuation is an integral part of investing and that great companies are only great investments at the right price. I tend to only post quarterly returns and commentary and I am not fazed by short-term market events or news. I am primarily concerned about the long-run earnings of the companies in the portfolio and the factors that impact them.
