About

Investing into companies that aren’t destroying our planet may seem like a no brainer to you. Whether you’re focussed on the money, for instance you may think companies drilling for oil might not be around in 20 years, so why would you invest in a dinosaur (yes it's a joke about fossil fuels); or you just straight-up don’t want anything to do with unsustainable practices. But investing can feel complicated and add to that doubts about greenwashing, all of a sudden aligning your values to your investments can feel too hard. You are in luck. This template only includes ETFs that have met independent sustainability criteria, to help you get started.

Based on the Pearler community's most-invested ESG ETFs, they are sized according to the following criteria:

No more than 50% exposure to any one major stock exchange – This helps to make sure you aren’t too dependent on the economy of any single country. Just in case, say, there’s a coup d’état…

No more than 50% exposure to any one ETF – Whilst ETFs are generally diversified, so all your eggs aren’t in one basket, investing across a few ETFs further spreads the eggs and baskets… so you have multiple eggs, in multiple baskets, double

yolked eggs and baskets within baskets (sorry, finance jokes..)

Choosing low cost funds and brokerage free funds where possible. This makes it possible to invest as regularly as possible and avoids you spending too much on brokerage.

The portfolio comprises only ETFs that have been independently verified as only including ethical, sustainable and well governed companies (ESG). Then based on the standard portfolio diverification criteria, it puts together a mix of international and Australian invested ESG ETFs.
