VDHG ETF Overview

VDHG.AX seeks to track the weighted average performance of various ETFs it invests in. Normally, ETFs track and hold companies of a specific index like the ASX 300 but VDHG is a special case. It doesn't track companies directly. Instead, it invests in other ETFs. For instance, 35% of VDHG's portfolio is in Vanguard Australian Share Index (VAS) and 27% is in Vanguard International Shares Index Fund. Effectively, it acts as an ETF that tracks other ETFs. VDHG is a growth-focused ETF that invests in high-growth assets. Historically, such ETFs have been suitable for investors who seek higher long-term capital gains. VDHG also has a relatively lower management fee and is very well diversified. This normally appeals to investors who want low-cost exposure to growth stocks but don't want to invest in individual companies.

Additional Information

VDHG is a high-growth ETF, so 90% of its portfolio is allocated to growth assets like shares while 10% is allocated to income assets like bonds and fixed-income securities. This ETF has high exposure to both Australian and international markets. Australian companies make up ~35% of the ETF while international shares account for 42%. It also has decent exposure to small-cap companies and emerging markets which account for ~12% of the portfolio. Since it invests in other ETFs, VDHG is one of the most diversified ETFs in the ASX, having exposure to more than 16,000 securities.
