S&P 500 vs VDHG

Investing Strategy

New investor here I put a chunk of my savings into VDHG as an easy one-off investment option that I can just put money into and let it grow. Question is, how does it compare to S&P 500 etfs ? Is there any advantage one has over the other ? If I invest into both VDHG & S&P 500 are there any over lap in stocks ? Is that a bad thing ? Cheers for the help

Hi there, good question.

This has been discussed in similar questions in the following posts if you’d like to read a little more…

In short, VDHG is a total globally diversified portfolio, whereas S&P 500 is just America only. If you also add a fund for S&P 500, yes there will be an overlap. It’s not really a problem as such, but it’s not really required and kind of defeats the purpose of choosing a ready-made portfolio like VDHG.

Hope that helps you find the answer you’re looking for.
Dave
