How to efficiently compare ETF holdings for overlap?
Investing Strategy
How do you compare the holdings of an ETF like VDHG, which is made up of other index funds? I'm thinking of combining all the holdings into a spreadsheet to calculate adjusted weightings based on VDHG's allocation. I'm trying to see overlap with other ETFs. Any tips for doing this efficiently?

Hi Olivia.
One way to do this is to find the ETF in Pearler’s share page, then click Learn More: https://pearler.com/explore/invest/shares
From here, scroll down until you can see Top Holdings. Then click Show More. From here, it should let you see the percentages of stocks for the first 50-100 holdings or so.
Then you could simply open another tap and compare it to another. Someone from Pearler may chime in with a better way of doing it, but that’s one easy and simple way of doing a quick check at least.
It might not be accurate or broad enough for someone who’s keen to go to spreadsheet level, but would meet the ‘good enough’ test for most people.
All the best,
Dave
