Calling for advice from parents investing for their young kids.
Investing Strategy
If there are any parents using this forum to invest for their young kids to get them ahead in life I am keen to hear what has worked and learnings in the first few months of getting started. Top picks, continual investment tips etc Got a good 10 years to help the kids out before they legally become adults so I am open to suggestions and ideas. Thanks!

Hi Eleni, I microinvest for both my kids instead of using a bank account that doesn’t earn anything.
The money that goes in comes from birthday gifts or pocket money earnt through chores.
Because my eldest is 9 years old, so we encourage her financial literacy by getting her involved. We pay her cash and then she divides the coins into three jars (just like Barefoot Investor recommends). She gets to decide how much goes into each jar. Once one of the jars we call ‘smile’ reaches $20+ she gives me the cash and then under my supervision she bank transfers the same dollar amount to her Pearler account. She gets excited to see the amount grow and teaches her how easy it is to both ‘save’ and ‘invest’.
I also show her when the ‘monthly fees’ of $2 are deducted for having a microinvesting account. I tell her if she doesn’t keep topping it up the fees and going to eat away her investments. She is then motivated to do her weekly chores(not without lots of prompting of course) so that investment grows.
Hope this helps! Goodluck 😁!
