Getting started with Shares or Micro?

First Time Investor

Hi all, I’m trying to decide between putting my money into individual shares or in Micro to get started. For those who've tried both, what are the biggest differences in terms of costs, returns, and ease of management? Any insights on which might be better for a beginner with a smaller budget ($100/month)? Thanks

Hi Mia,

I’ve tried both and I prefer the full Shares option, for more control over investing options + no ongoing additional fees.

Microinvesting is very simple and easy so I would say that wins out in that regard. It also works efficiently for lower amounts such as $100 per month, since brokerage won’t be payable and eat into your capital.

It really is a great stepping stone into the world of investing, and luckily there are good diversified and low cost options now. Returns will largely be dictated by the funds/ETFs chosen, so nothing really specific to shares vs micro

Hope that helps and all the best.
