How do I automatically invest with Pearler Shares?

Use Pearler's Autoinvest feature to automate your investing. Simply choose the amount, frequency, and assets you want to invest in, and set your Autoinvest strategy to suit your preferences. It’s the easiest set-and-forget strategy for both beginners and experienced investors.

How does Autoinvest work?

With Autoinvest you can determine if you want to deposit and invest immediately or once your deposits reach a certain value.

Regular deposits that are invested immediately are recommended for investors who want to invest a larger amount of money (about $2000+), or who prefer to enter the market sooner regardless of brokerage fee.

Whereas, regular deposits that are invested when a certain value is reached is recommended for investors who want to make regular smaller deposits and then invest a lump sum once they reach a specific threshold.

Setup

Head to your Automate page and follow the prompts. You are able Add multiple setups according to your preferences.

You can choose to make one-off contributions to your Autoinvest setup or simply let Autoinvest do its thing by setting up a recurring deposit or using Roundup.

For Shares Autoinvest, when your Autoinvest Cash account balance reaches the set amount (e.g. $2000), Autoinvest is triggered and the entire balance of the account will be used to purchase as many full units as possible. Whatever is not used is returned to the account for the next round of Autoinvest.

Once set up, you can edit or deactivate your Autoinvest at any time. To set yours up, click here.

Funds need to be in your Autoinvest Cash account (not AU Cash) for Autoinvest to trigger and start investing for you.

Autoinvest orders are placed between 10:30 am to 11:00 am on the next trading day after your investment target has been triggered.

How much does Autoinvest cost?

Shares

Autoinvest costs are the same as every other transaction on the Pearler platform - the only fees you pay are the fees to buy and sell shares (brokerage fees).

A brokerage fee of $6.50 is charged with each purchase transaction of a stock.

Some Autoinvest settings result in multiple stocks being purchased and will therefore incur multiple brokerage fees.

What should I Autoinvest in?

Although we can’t tell you what to invest in, Shares such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs) & listed investment companies (LICs) are popular with Shares Autoinvest due to their diversified nature (i.e. you hold many companies in one share).

We don't recommend using Autoinvest for individual companies unless you are an experienced investor. To get started, check out the most popular ETFs and most popular LICs.

How much should I Autoinvest?

This amount is completely up to you! You should have a clear understanding of the amount you have available to invest regularly before setting up Autoinvest.

To do this, you'll need to assess your available funds, your risk tolerance, your financial goals, your income, your expenses, and when you’ll need access to the capital you’re investing.

If you’re unsure, speak to someone you trust who is competent with money and understands your individual needs to determine this amount. If no one comes to mind, we recommend you talk to an independent financial adviser.

How often should I Autoinvest?

You can set your Autoinvest schedule to invest weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. Choose whatever frequency works best for you.

Alternatively, you can also deposit money on a set schedule (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly) until you reach a specified amount and then your funds will be invested.

If you're interested in calculating the optimal investing frequency based on brokerage fees, you can do so using our Investing Frequency Calculator.
