Stop Loss
UNDER REVIEW
I understand this platform is designed for the long term investor however it would be great to have the option to Stop Loss. Been thinking how it took the Nasdaq took 15 year to reach another high after the tech bubble burst in 2000, would be nice to get out a bit early and have cash to invest later.

I too am looking at moving to a platform that supports stop loss and trailing loss. Would love to stay with Pearler.

Is there an update if we will get the stop loss feature?

I find it hard to believe this isn’t an option. I will have to invest elsewhere until it is. It’s a great feature for some investors.

Hayden, Hayden. I posted my first (Ever) comment this Arvo.... AND have to agree with all the aspects of the Stop Loss scenario that have been brought to light. As the Grand Statesman once said Jeesh Mate, "It's Time". Well, words to that effect... Given that all of us are well and truly aware of the highly volatile times we are in, I think that Pearler's 'biting of the bullet' on this one, is a Tad overdue. Now I for one do not relish the idea of subdued Trading/Investing 'cos' it's not nice out there, for what I perceive to be a pending long'ish downtrend. BUT, notwithstanding the risks involved, I guess, like other people on Planet Australia, we would like to trade/Invest with some modicum of safety. Is it possible for you and the Team to get a GOOD wriggle on this one....

Can't wait for OpenMarkets to introduce Stop Loss, trailing stop, and God forbid, TAKE PROFIT. And yep, prepared to pay a 'Tad' more for this privilege

Do be aware that a stop-loss doesn't do what it says on the tin. When a market gaps downward during a crash, there isn't always volume trading, and the order book often has a great deal of sell orders chasing few buy orders while the spread shifts downward. There's no guarantee that orders will be filled. This type of protection is available with options but that is not recommended for retail investors. Investors should follow the maxim: never invest what you can't afford to lose. The main concern with this feature in my opinion is that it creates a false sense of security and encourages people to invest with greater risk.

With all the chatter about potential tech bubble, it'd be nice to have the safety net of a stop loss feature.

Love the platform right now, but the stop loss would be a great feature to protect users when investing. Hope this one rolls out soon!

This feature would be great. Do you have any plans to develop this into Pearler?

I just moved to pearler as it's more aligned with my vision and I find there are much better features (like MFA) compared to other services. However I'm surprised that the 'Stop Loss' has not been implemented yet. It's a feature that gives me a bigger sense of control when acquiring stocks that are more prone to big downward swifts

I’d love to use Pearler, but the lack of a stop loss feature is a major drawback for me.

You could also have an even simplier solution of a drop alert, emails you an alert that the % has dropped X in Y time period, much easier to code than an auto sell.

This seems like something Pearler could do some interesting stuff with. I get that it’s designed for long-term investing, but that also means people are less likely to log in frequently and check their portfolio performance. It would be terrible to log in and find your net worth was wiped out by something like the market drop caused by COVID in early 2020. If the share price were to drop by X% in Y time period, I’d prefer those stocks to be automatically sold off. Conversely, if the inverse were to happen, reinvest. Those preferences should (optionally) take precedence over autoinvest rules.
