How do I cancel an order?

ASX

You can cancel an ASX order immediately as long as the order has not been sent to the market. Follow these simple steps to cancel an order:

  1. Head over to the transactions page.

  2. Click on an order you would like to cancel, (they would be stated as Pending)

  3. Click on the "Cancel" button next to the title (as shown in the picture).

If the cancel button is not visible, that means the order can no longer be cancelled.

US

You can cancel a US stock order depending on market hours and whether the order has been sent to the market.

Cancelling Immediately

An order can be cancelled immediately if:

  • It is during US market hours, or

  • The order was created and cancelled before the market opened (i.e., before it was submitted to the market)

Cancelling Orders Outside These Conditions

If your order has already been submitted or it is outside US market hours, cancellations will be processed at the next available session.

  • The cancelled order will remain in a pending cancellation state until 9:00 PM AEST following the request.

No brokerage fees will be incurred for cancelling an order that has not started to execute.

Micro

Any instructions for Micro orders are sent immediately when the order is placed and therefore cannot be cancelled.

If you no longer want to be invested, you will need to wait until the order is completed and then place the following order. As this may have tax implications, it might be best to obtain professional tax and financial advice before proceeding.
