Is adding thematic ETFs to a diversified portfolio worthwile?

Hello! I was wondering if it's worth adding niche ETFs, like those focused on electric vehicles, hydrogen, or green energy, to a diversified portfolio with funds like VDHG or DHHF? I’m curious if these could add value, especially with issues like global warming, but I’m concerned it might lead to more speculation than long-term investing and disrupt the balance of a diversified portfolio. What are your thoughts?

Hi Olivia.

I wrote an article about thematic ETFs here which you might find interesting and it might answer many of your concerns about it: https://pearler.com/explore/learn/blog/themat...

Hope that helps with your thinking.

Cheers, Dave
