Investment Returns

How does everyone calculate their investment returns? I am keen to compare the different ETF’s in my portfolio. I want to include the impacts of dividends as well as capital growth. I also invest regularly so have different purchase unit prices. How often does everyone do this kind of review? Annually? I am hoping someone may have an excel template available. Thank you

Hey Thea :)

I use Sharesight, which connects to my Pearler account. It’s free for up to 10 holdings, and is super helpful for tax also. It tracks dividends and capital growth and takes into account all purchases made, not just a start and end date, so it’s very useful for looking at over time.

The performance numbers don’t change any of my investment decisions, because good long term investments are still good regardless of short term performance (just like you wouldn’t judge a well located piece of real estate based on its short term performance).

Hope that helps.
