W8-BEN Tax Form

Hello Fellow Pearlers, Under Transactions -> Reports -> "US broker statements and documents" section, the W8-BEN Tax Form 1 has been automatically created by the US brokerage partner, DriveWealth. What do I need to do with this form? Does it need to be sent to the US IRS to reduce the withholding tax or the ATO? Thanks for your support here.

Hi Leon,

Great question!

If you are trading US-domiciled AU stocks (i.e. ASX:VEU), you would have to file and submit a W8-BEN form yourself via the share registry.

However, in your case, when trading US stocks (AAPL, GOOGL etc) on pearler, our US brokerage partner automatically fills and files it for you when you register for a US Trading account. No further action is required from you ✅

For those who need some help filling out a W8-BEN, you can check out this helpful blog we’ve found :)

Happy investing!
