Transfer of my shares from Computershare to Pearler

Hi, it's June 22nd 2022 and I am considering transferring my NAB shares from Computershare to Pearler. Dividends are due to be paid out by July 2022. If I transfer the shares now, would I still be paid my dividends due for July 2022, if yes, which platform will pay the dividends; Computershare or Pearler? Thanks, Edwin.

Hi Edwin,

Great question!

If you own shares that pay dividends, you generally don’t have to worry about missing out on payments altogether as they are always paid and tracked by the share registry (Computershare in your case). Depending on what dividend preference you have set with the share registry, whether that is having your dividends reinvested or paid out to a bank account will determine where that dividend will end up.

If you have a dividend reinvestment plan set up, you will need to re-activate that following the share transfer, otherwise the dividends you earned will sit with the share registry until you nominate a bank account for it to be paid into.

If you have already nominated a bank account for payment, then that preference will remain and the dividends will continue to be paid out there unless you nominate a different account. You can also nominate your Pearler cash account for payment by putting in your Pearler BSB and account number found via the Deposit button (on Dashboard) > Direct deposit.

Lastly for future reference, if you make any investments into new holdings on Pearler, any dividends will be paid into your Pearler Primary cash (AU) by default.
