Dividends and share registries

Hi everyone, I have questions about dividends and share registries. It was my first time to buy some Australian stock a few months ago. What should I do if I have not received any letter from the mail. I have no idea about my SRN/HIN number. Can I still receive dividends in the future if I don't know my SRN/HIN number? If yes, would I receive my dividend through my bank account in Pearler?

Hi Powei,

Thanks for your question on this often confusing topic for first-time investors!

We recommend waiting around 2 weeks following the first Pearler Shares investment into a new stock for it to be registered with the responsible share registry. However, if you have already received mail from the registry, this means your HIN is now linked and you can go ahead and access their portal to update your dividend preferences etc.

On Pearler, your HIN is always available on your Settings > Shares settings and dividends page once your account is active.

By default, any dividends will be paid into your Pearler Primary cash (AU) account if the initial investment of that stock was made this year. Your dividends will always be tracked by the share registry regardless, whether that is paid out to a bank account, reinvested, or simply sitting with the registry so there is no need to worry about «losing» them as such :)

Just to add to what Cathy has said, the share registry may end up holding onto your dividends if they don’t have a bank account to send the money to. In that case, you might need to contact them.

Different companies use different share registries, so you might want to google it like this, for example : «Commonwealth Bank share registry» – and straight away it’s easy to find the share registry in that case is Link Market Services.

Hope that helps. If not, you can always tell us what the company/fund is and one of us can let you know the share registry you’ll need to contact :)

Hi Dave, are the share registries given my pearler cash bank details to deposit dividends in when I purchase shares on pearler? Or will I need to call each share registry to provide bank details?
