CHOOSING INVESTMENTS

Should I continue to invest in VESG or invest in another ETF?

Been a year since I started investing $500 into VESG. Currently, it's at a market rate of ~$91 and I have around 60 units. I am confused if I should continue investing my $500 in it or invest in some other ETF where I can more units and there is long-term growth. What should be my considerations when making the shift or remaining in VESG?

Hi Vijay.

Is there a reason you’re now confused about your investing approach? Is there anything that has changed with this investment which has made you rethink whether you want to keep adding to it?

I can see VESG has performed very well over the last 12 months, which is great. It’s done better than many other funds. Whether that continues over the next 12 months (or longer), nobody can say for sure.

I would say that unless you’ve fundamentally changed your mind about how you want to invest going forward, there’s no good reason to switch at this stage.

As for the unit price, there is no advantage to buying ‘more’ units of a fund which has a lower price per unit. You won’t get higher returns just because the unit price is cheaper, it doesn’t work like that. It doesn’t matter if you have 1,000 units at $1 each or 10 units at $100 each.

All the best, Dave
